This Saturday (27/04), at 6:30 pm, Cineclube Guarany, presents the documentary “Veneza Amazônica”, by Amazonian filmmaker, Chagas Batista da Silveira, codename “Sereno Silveira”. The program is carried out by the State Government, through the Secretariat of Culture and Creative Economy and is part of the Cineclube de Arte which this week has the title “O Cinema de Sereno Silveira”.

Cineteatro Guarany is located on Avenida Sete de Setembro, attached to Vila Ninita, in the center of Manaus. The exhibition has free entry and is rated 12 years old.

According to Sereno Silveira, the documentary “Veneza Amazônica” supports a perspective of sustainability and preservation of the environment, by focusing on the process of change in the streams of Manaus, revealing characters who experienced the reality of before and after. “There is an interviewee who remembers the streams when they were clean and never imagined that they would end up as they are today, polluted and lifeless,” said the filmmaker.

“The main objective of the documentary is to motivate reflection, especially among children and teenagers, for those who have the vision of preserving what still remains”, highlights Silverio.

The documentary lasts 20 minutes and is based on a collection of images of streams in Manaus, captured since 2012, the year of the historic flood of the Rio Negro, until its release in 2021. Among the streams included in the production, the filmmaker mentions the do Tarumã, Igarapé do 40, Alvorada, São Jorge, Glória, Compensa and Parque 10.

“I already had filmed material from the streams since the 2012 flood. So, I supplemented this very broad material by visiting other locations. A production that took, on average, five months”, recalls the filmmaker.
