The arrival of the rainy season in Roraima is an important moment for the region, as it marks the end of the drought and brings with it the promise of an abundant harvest in 2024. This period of rain is essential for local agriculture, especially for grain producers such as corn, soybeans, rice and beans.

“With regular rains and more favorable weather, farmers have the opportunity to plant and harvest their crops with greater safety and efficiency. This not only guarantees the livelihood of families that depend on agriculture, it also contributes significantly to food security and sustainability in the region”, said the head of Seadi (Secretariat of Agriculture, Development and Innovation), Marcio Grangeiro.

According to a report prepared by Seadi, out of a total of 200 soybean producing properties surveyed, 139 expressed their positive projections for the area to be cultivated in the 2024 harvest, while the others kept the area unchanged for planting intentions.

The prospect of expansion in the soybean planted area suggests not only the great potential of the crop in the State, but also the strengthening of agribusiness and the regional economy.

“The arrival of winter in Roraima not only represents the end of the drought, but also paves the way for a promising and rewarding harvest season. It is a moment of celebration for the entire community, which highlights the vital importance of agriculture in promoting the well-being and prosperity of their families and the region as a whole”, reinforced producer Lúcia Costa.

The State’s agricultural production plays a key role in providing food for the local population and beyond, helping to meet the demand for grains on the national and international market. Furthermore, the bumper harvest of 2024 is a source of pride for farmers, who work hard to ensure the success of their plantations.

Agricultural calendar

As a way of guiding and facilitating production planning in Roraima, Seadi developed the agricultural calendar, which is an extremely important tool for rural producers. In this way, the calendar allows producers to plan their activities throughout the year, from beginning to harvest, taking into account crop growth cycles and ideal climatic conditions for each regional stage.

Based on the agricultural calendar, farmers can optimize the use of resources such as labor, seeds, fertilizers and equipment, distributing them efficiently throughout the year according to the needs of each crop and growth stage.

“Properly following the agricultural calendar helps producers maximize their productivity, ensuring that activities are carried out at the right time to obtain the best possible results in terms of crop yield. Thus, the agricultural calendar allows farmers to plan their activities, identifying and managing the risks associated with production”, concluded the technical coordinator at Seadi, Marcelo Hentges.
