The state deputy Bruno Engler (PL) appears as the leader in voting intentions for mayor of Belo Horizonte in a survey carried out by the AtlasIntel Institute released this Thursday (25/4).

The pre-candidate supported by the former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL) appears with 31% of the responses and is followed by the name indicated by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) for the election, federal deputy Rogério Correia (PT).

The first round scenario stimulated by the research has federal deputy Duda Salabert (PDT) in third place, with 10%; followed by the president of the City Council, Gabriel Azevedo (MDB), with 9%; senator Carlos Viana (Podemos), with 8.2%; Mayor Fuad Noman (PSD), with 5%; state deputy Mauro Tramonte (Republicans), with 4.7%; state deputy Bella Gonçalves (PSOL), with 3.8%; João Leite (PSDB), with 3.7%; the Secretary of State for Planning and Management, Luísa Barreto (Novo), with 1.6%; and Paulo Brant (PSB), with 0.2%. 2.9% of those interviewed said they did not know who to vote for, and whites and nulls accounted for 3.3% of the respondents.

The survey interviewed 1,267 residents of the capital of Minas Gerais between April 18 and 23. The margin of error is plus or minus three percentage points and the survey was registered with the Superior Electoral Court as MG-04626/2024.

Second scenario

In a second scenario with reduced suggestions, Engler leads with 36.9% of intentions. Correia comes next with 19.2%; Duda has 14.6% of the answers; Gabriel has 7%; Fuad has 5.9%; Bella Gonçalves has 3.7%; Luísa Barreto has 3.2%; and Paulo Brant has 1.5%. Blank or invalid votes represent 3.5% of responses and 4.3% said they did not know who to vote for.

Second round

Only a second round scenario was presented to survey respondents. In it, Bruno Engler appears with 44.1% of intentions against 38% for Rogério Correia.
