Municipalities in the northern region of the State of Bahia are targets during this week of operation Posto Legal, which aims to assess compliance with quality and quantity requirements in the sale of fuels supplied to consumers in Bahia, among other topics such as expiration date, information on the products sold and fiscal and registration regularity of the establishments.

In the division of tasks between the participating bodies, Ibametro is mainly responsible for evaluating the proper functioning of pumps and fuel nozzles, and the ANP analyzes aspects related to the quantity and quality of the product sold, among other items. Procon-Ba checks issues relating to consumer rights.

Sefaz-Ba is responsible for checking the company’s fiscal and registration regularity, and PGE is responsible for legal issues. The security of the operation is guaranteed by the SSP-Ba, through the Civil and Military police, the latter represented by the Independent Financial Police Company (Cipfaz).

Consumers who identify suspected irregularities at gas stations located in the State of Bahia can forward complaints to the Posto Legal operation through the Disque Denúncia Bahia service, available on telephone numbers 71 3235-0000 (Salvador and RMS) and 181 (interior) and also at the address.

Continuous action

The director of Inspection at Procon-Ba, Iratan Vilas Boas, explained that Posto Legal “is a continuous action that emerged in 2019 with the aim of inspecting the state’s gas stations, ensuring that the consumer buys a quality product and supplies their vehicle with the amount of fuel you are purchasing, in addition to checking several other legal issues”.

Iratan reinforced that the establishment where the operation finds some type of irregularity will respond in accordance with the infraction committed.

“Each body has specific legislation. Interdiction of equipment, the establishment as a whole and fines are part of the list of penalties that can be applied”.

The deputy head of the National Petroleum Agency office in Salvador, Vanjoaldo Lopes, said that the ANP has the power to close the stations if it identifies any non-compliance.

“Every station has, for example, the obligation to have a fuel analysis kit, as well as someone qualified to carry out the test, which must be done on two occasions: when the station receives the fuel from the supplier and when a request is made by the consumer. . The ANP also checks several other aspects involving quality and quantity in the sale of fuels”.

According to the coordinator of Petroleum and Fuel Inspection at Sefaz-Ba, Olavo Oliva, the task force’s work is already planned for the entire 2024 financial year.

“We will be throughout Bahia to minimize the effects of fraud and tax evasion. This is a government program, whose objective is to protect the consumer and society”.
