The new Atlas/Intel electoral survey shows Guilherme Boulos with 35.6% of voting intentions, technically tied with pre-candidate for re-election Ricardo Nunes, who has 33.7%. Tabata Amaral has 14.5% of voters’ preference, Kim Kataguiri appears with 9.4% and Marina Helena with 3.5%, in the survey commissioned by CNN and released this Wednesday.

In the previous survey by the same institute, released in December, Boulos had 29.5% and Nunes 18%. Tabata appeared with 6.2%, Kataguiri with 5.3% and Marina Helena with 0.6%.

On a note, Guilherme Boulos’ pre-campaign attacked his main opponent Ricardo Nunes. The PSOL deputy’s team highlighted “400 million reais spent on advertising” and “almost 5 billion reais on works without bidding” and that, despite the competitor’s financial contribution, the PSOList “continues to grow and lead”.

“In addition, the survey shows the impact of the complaints on the Nunes administration. Mainly the recent operation by the Public Ministry to investigate the infiltration of organized crime in bus companies that provide services to the City Hall”, says the note, which also highlights the relevance of the institute, the “one that got the most success” in the last presidential elections in Brazil and from Argentina.

Mayor Ricardo Nunes spoke about the results of the research during the GiroBusiness event, run by investment brokerage Galapagos Capital. He stated that, at the moment, he is more concerned with “being mayor” than with surveys of voting intentions.

“From the last Atas survey to the current one, we had a growth of 15%. It’s very considerable, right? Big growth. The distance in relation to the main opponent has reduced a lot”, he told reporters.

“It means continuing to work with a focus on the city, bringing results, generating actions that allow the generation of jobs and income in São Paulo. I see it optimistically, but I’m actually very worried about research right now. I think that’s it, it’s working, caring, being mayor”, he continued.

Tabata Amaral used social media to highlight that, according to the research, she is the pre-candidate capable of beating Ricardo Nunes in the second round. In the scenario with Boulos and Nunes, the current mayor wins by 0.5%, in a tight dispute. In the comparison between Tabata and Nunes, in a possible second round, she would win by 1.7%.

In a note sent to Radar, the PSB deputy stated that the growth is the result of the electorate’s knowledge of its performance in Brasília.

“The growth in research is because people are getting to know my pre-candidacy, they are discovering that I am from the outskirts and have changed my life through my studies. They are getting to know my work as a federal deputy and my projects that change people’s lives, such as Pé-de-meia, which will provide conditions for keeping teenagers in school.”

The Atlas/Intel survey interviewed 1,629 residents of São Paulo, between April 18th and 22nd, through Random Digital Recruitment. The margin of error is 2.5 percentage points, plus or minus.
