Lira readjusts daily rates by 60% for deputies traveling to Brazil for work | Policy

The president of the Chamber, Arthur Lira (PP-AL), readjusted in 60% the value of daily allowances paid to deputies traveling within Brazil. The act, signed by him on April 17, was published in this Thursday’s (25) edition of the Diário da Câmara dos Deputados.

The value update is the first carried out by the House since 2012. The daily allowances are used to cover expenses for parliamentarians and advisors with accommodation, food and urban transportation, as well as additional boarding and disembarking fees.

According to the Chamber’s rules, deputies and advisors who travel from the Federal District or their state to another part of the national territory are entitled to the amount:

  • in the service of the House
  • on official mission
  • in training of interest to the Chamber

The act signed by Lira readjusts all values ​​by 60.62%. Starting this month, the benefit for:

  • President of the Chamber will move from R$611 for BRL 981
  • deputies will move from R$524 for R$842

In the case of servers It is collaborators, the update of the value will depend on the classification of the position, and may reach R$785.

There was also a correction in the assistance paid to cover travel expenses between the point of embarkation or disembarkation and the place of work or hosting. The aid will jump from R$ 279 for R$448.

The adjustments did not reach the amounts paid for international travel, which will remain between US$196 and US$550.

Last year, according to the Chamber of Deputies, were paid R$ 6.1 million in daily rates only intended for parliamentarians.

When justifying the measure, Arthur Lira stated that the adjustment is “corresponding to the accumulated variation of the IPCA [considerada a inflação oficial do país] from June 2015 to March 2024”.

“It should be noted that the values ​​stipulated […] they were never readjusted and that, since its edition, in April 2012, the Broad National Consumer Price Index (IPCA/IBGE) has accumulated a variation of 99.79%”, he wrote.
