Child is found alone on BR-153 near Araguaína
An eight-year-old child was rescued after being found alone on the banks of BR-153 in Araguaína, in the north of Tocantins. According to the Federal Highway Police, the boy had run away from home and was found barefoot, shirtless and sitting on the curb.
The case was registered on Wednesday afternoon (24). The boy said he had run away approximately 1h30 ago after his grandmother, who is his guardian, accused him of stealing and threatened to beat him. According to the report, the woman was consuming alcohol.
During the treatment, he said that he had not yet eaten or drunk water, so the team offered fruit to the child while contacting the Guardianship Council.
The agents went to the place indicated by the boy as his home, where it was confirmed that he lived with his grandmother, a 69-year-old woman. She reported that he had disappeared from the house a few hours ago and that it was the first time this situation had occurred.
The Federal Police assisted the Guardianship Council, which returned the child to the family. The agency reported that it is monitoring the case for a period of time and issuing requests to the protection network, such as the applicability of a protection measure.
The child was taken to the Araguaína Guardianship Council. Initially, it was found that a child was referred in a vulnerable situation. O g1 questioned the Public Security Secretariat about the case and is awaiting a response.
