The Civil Police of Rio de Janeiro indicted this Wednesday (24) the three men, already temporarily arrested, for involvement in the death of lawyer Rodrigo Marinho Crespo.
The crime occurred on February 26, on Avenida Marechal Câmara, a few meters from the Brazilian Bar Association (OAB-RJ) section. The victim was killed with at least 18 shots while walking in the city center.
According to the Capital Homicide Police Station (DHC), Cezar Daniel Mondego de Souza, Eduardo Sobreira Moraes and Military Police corporal Leandro Machado da Silva participated in monitoring the victim and were together before and after the crime. One of those involved also provided information about the vehicle used on the day of the lawyer’s death.
Investigation
During the investigations, agents from the Homicide Department carried out several investigations and carried out search and seizure warrants at the homes of other people being investigated. The police investigation was dismembered with the purpose of identifying and holding criminally responsible the others involved in the victim’s death.
Cezar Daniel and Eduardo Sobreira were responsible for vigilance and monitoring the lawyer’s steps from the time he left home, in the south zone, to his place of work.
The pair wore a white Goal, similar to the ones used by the executioners, caught on security cameras. The car was delivered to Eduardo by PM Leandro Machado. Investigators claim that Leandro is responsible for coordinating all the logistics of the crime.
At the time of the crime, the State Secretariat of Military Police reported in a note that PM Leandro Machado was already away from street duty, as he was responding to another investigation for participation in a criminal organization.
He was preventively arrested in April 2021. The corporation adds that the General Inspectorate had already initiated administrative disciplinary proceedings in relation to the police officer, which could end in expulsion.
