The Secretary of State for Public Security of Santa Catarina (SSP-SC), Sergeant Lima, participated in Brasília on Tuesday (24), in the launch of the Mixed Parliamentary Front Invasão Zero. The objective of the mobilization is to strengthen actions against land invasions across the country.

Lima was sworn in as regional coordinator of the Mixed Parliamentary Front Invasão Zero. When engaging in the actions, he highlights that work in this regard is directly linked to public security, as the initiative aims to combat property invasion crimes and threats to occupations.

“Santa Catarina’s economy in most of its municipalities is focused on agribusiness, the municipalities’ revenue source comes from livestock and agriculture and any interference in the State’s economy is very negative. So this is a concern that all of us Santa Catarina must have”, points out the secretary, highlighting that in adverse situations in the economy the first area to feel is that which depends on public safety.

Another important point, in the secretary’s assessment, “is that invasions are not justified, especially in the State of Santa Catarina, considering that the vast majority of properties in Santa Catarina are small and medium-sized, practically focused on family farming, a family business” .

In the National Congress, the Parliamentary Front’s first action will be to request an emergency regime for the processing of bills under discussion in the Chamber of Deputies. The focus of these projects is to reinforce legislation against illegal occupations in the countryside. One of them is that invaders of rural properties are prevented from receiving social benefits from the government and that they are excluded from lists of agrarian reform programs. Senator Jorge Seif and federal deputy Rafael Pezenti, from SC, were present at the inauguration.

Still on Tuesday in Brasília, the Secretary of Public Security, Sergeant Lima, and the special advisor of the SSP-SC, Pedro Neves, met in an audience with the Secretary of National Articulation of Santa Catarina, Vânia Franco.
