This increase in meningitis records occurs despite vaccination coverage against the main pathogens of the disease. Vaccination data reveals an increase in coverage for BCG and Pneumo 10 vaccines, while vaccination for Meningo C and Pentavalente shows fluctuations over the years.

In relation to deaths from the disease, in 2022, pneumococcal meningitis was responsible for 55.5% of deaths, being the etiology with the highest fatality rate.

The etiological profile of confirmed cases of meningitis in the State presented a variety of causative agents. In 2022, bacterial meningitis was the most prevalent, followed by unspecified meningitis and meningitis caused by other etiologies. This complex panorama requires a multifaceted approach to combating the disease.

Analyzing the distribution of confirmed cases by age group, the majority of cases are among children under 1 year old and adults aged 20 to 39 years old. Complete bulletin can be accessed at this link.
