A corpse was located on the São José da Barra Verde line in Herval d’Oeste, West of Santa Catarina. The Military Police were called and the location was isolated on Wednesday morning (24).

The witness reported that he was brushing through the bush near the Barra Verde River when he found a body, possibly a man due to his clothes. According to the PM, the corpse was in a state of decomposition.
Body identification
Civil Police Chief Leandro Sales explains that there is evidence that the body is that of a 70-year-old man who had been missing for around 20 days. This man allegedly left a shelter without informing the staff.
Sales explains that, at first, there are no signs of crime. “We suspect that it is him based on his characteristics and clothing, however, due to the advanced state of decomposition, it was not possible to determine whether it really is him.”
The missing man had several health problems and the suspicion is that his death was natural. The victim’s identity will be confirmed after the investigation.
