The extraordinary secretary for COP30, Valter Correia da Silva, and the SECOP project director Olmo Xavier, visited Belém this Wednesday (24) to participate in strategic meetings with the State government regarding the United Nations Conference on Climate Change , which will be held in Belém in December 2025.

“This is the second time that I have come to Belém, always dealing with pertinent issues with the State government and the city of Belém. For me, everything is going perfectly well, all the negotiations that are necessary to carry out a good COP for the united nations here in Brazil”, said Valter Correia.

“The COP is a great event for any city that hosts it. There are very few cities in the world that would be ready to host a COP without a review of their infrastructure. The important thing is that Belém is able to be on another level of development post-COP30, and that for me is the biggest legacy of the conference”, says SECOP project director, Olmo Xavier.

We will have dredging works, basic sanitation works, sewage treatment works, rainwater treatment works in the city, in short, a very strong legacy must remain here in the city, outside the world looking at what Belém is, this land very rich in we have the Amazon Forest, and a lot of tourism should be boosted from this COP”, concludes the secretary.
