The State Secretariat for Culture, Sports and Leisure (Secel-MT) is updating the registration data of public libraries in Mato Grosso. Carried out by the coordination of the State System of Public Libraries of Mato Grosso, re-registration remains open until May 17th, exclusively via online form (click here).

Currently, 160 public libraries are integrated into the Mato Grosso State Public Library System. Of these, 145 are municipal, 11 community and one state, the Estevão de Mendonça Library. On the list, there are also three container libraries, which are implemented in partnership between municipalities and Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) through the Rouanet Law to encourage culture.

The coordination of the State System seeks to support the implementation and modernization of public libraries throughout the State. Among the actions are technical advice, team training, support in updating collections and carrying out various projects to promote actions to encourage reading.

According to the coordinator of the State System in Mato Grosso, Carlos Alberto de Assunção Santos, the updated information helps in the integration and strengthening of public libraries throughout the State.

“The State System integrates the existing public libraries in Mato Grosso. With updated registration data, we will be able to know which libraries are fully operational and support actions to maintain and modernize the spaces, and update their collections”, explains Carlos.

The State System of Public Libraries was created as an integral part of the National System of Public Libraries and, in Mato Grosso, is coordinated by the State Secretariat for Culture, Sports and Leisure (Secel-MT).
