Detran.rj warns about false traffic violation notification via email

Detran.RJ released a note this Tuesday (23) warning that it does not notify users of fines via email. “Any attempt to communicate electronically about a traffic violation is a scam and could direct the citizen to pay undue debts”, informs the State Department of Traffic after information about actions by fraudsters in this regard throughout the state. It is worth noting that the user can consult fines and other outstanding vehicle issues through the department’s Digital Post on digital platforms or via the website https://servicos.detran.rj.gov.br/logincidadao/acesso/login. “It is worth highlighting that accessing fraudulent links can result in, in addition to financial loss, theft of information and viruses that damage and impair the efficiency of electronic equipment”, the agency also highlights.
Detran.RJ reinforces that when faced with dubious communication attempts, citizens can contact the department’s ombudsman (on the Detran.RJ website, in the Transparency tab, on telephone numbers (21) 2332-0438 / (21) 2321-0450; or in person, at Avenida Presidente Vargas, 817, 8th floor, Monday to Friday, from 8am to 5pm). In Teresópolis, Detran currently maintains service in the Fátima neighborhood (next to the Casa de Cultura) and at the inspection post in the Prata neighborhood.

Fee collection
By decision of the Special Body of the Court of Justice of Rio, Detran.RJ once again charged the annual fee for issuing the digital Vehicle Registration and Licensing Certificate (CRLV-e), in the amount of R$76.77. Payment of this fee had been suspended in March 2022, following the approval by the Legislative Assembly (Alerj) of State Law 9,580/2022, which in March was declared unconstitutional by TJ judges. As a result, the value of the Fee Regularization Guide (GRT) becomes R$ 268.65, of which R$ 191.88 refers to the annual vehicle licensing fee and R$ 76.77 to the issuance of the CRLV -It is. As previously informed by Detran.RJ, in order to issue the 2024 licensing document, it will also be necessary to fully pay the IPVA (Motor Vehicle Property Tax) and overdue traffic fines.
Payment of the CRLV-e issuance fee will be retroactive. In May, Detran.RJ will send Bradesco the forms for payment of the 2023 fee, which was suspended by the law declared unconstitutional. Even those who have already paid the GRT for 2024 will need to pay the value of the CRLV-e issuance fee, both for 2024 and 2023. Failure to pay will prevent any service related to the vehicle from being carried out, such as transfer of ownership and others.
