Heavy rains cause disruption in Sergipe
The rains that have been falling in Sergipe since last week caused disruptions this Tuesday (23) in Aracaju and in some cities in the interior of the state. A weather warning is in effect until Wednesday.
The accumulated rainfall this month has already exceeded 365mm, exceeding the historical average for April, which is 192.3mm. The data has been monitored by the Aracaju City Hall Crisis Management Committee, which carries out strategic actions to reduce impacts and risks to the population.
The force of the rain broke a section of Avenida Gasoduto, in Bairro Santa Maria. In the center, the intersection between São Cristóvão and Itabaianinha streets was flooded and many stores closed their doors.
On Avenida Coelho e Campos, water invaded half the road and on Rua Lagarto, residents were unable to enter or leave their homes. In the Getimana neighborhood, in the North Zone of the capital, water invaded some houses.
At Barra dos Coqueiros, the water invaded houses and knocked down gates. In Orange treesthe cars had difficulty driving, as the water level covered the tires.
In Chapel, in the east of the state, the streets were flooded and water returned through the drains. In Rosary of Catete, the houses along the highway were invaded by water. 20 houses were affected, residents left and returned later.
