It’s not Fermat’s last theorem, of course, but Lula’s grandson presented the entire country with quite a challenge: proving that his grandfather is a thief. According to the boy, whose name was on one of the pedal boats on the farm that “didn’t” belong to his grandfather, everyone repeats it, but no one proves his guilt. A “kid” then challenges him in search of proof, he says.

Imbued with this impossible mission, I prepared my Sherlock Holmes instruments, cleaned the lenses of my glasses, and immersed myself in a relentless search just like Indiana Jones looking for the jewel of the Nile. It wasn’t easy at all, obviously. But after 18 seconds of Google from the comfort of my chair, here are some things I found:

During the Lula government, we had the Mensalão and Petrolão, and a simple Petrobras manager even returned one hundred million dollars to the public coffers. Lula was condemned by nine judges and judges in three instances, with “abundant evidence”.

Not even the STF, acting as a kind of PT supporter, cleared his companion. In fact, based on supreme juggling and the pretext of the investigation’s CEP, Lula was “unconvicted”, things went back to square one and Sergio Moro was considered the only suspect judge in the country, by “judges” who are politicians and close to the PT.

In addition to concrete evidence, we can cite the findings of people beyond suspicion. For example: Geraldo Alckmin. Lula’s current vice president has already said that the thief wanted to return to the scene of the crime. Supreme ministers have also admitted that the Lulist PT acted like a gang, that there was plenty of corruption. Barroso was one of them, but not the only one.

The whole of Brazil calls Lula a thief for the simple fact that there was the biggest corruption scheme in our history in his government, and he himself benefited from the schemes with contractors.

The challenge, as we can see, was easier than it seemed. Ultimately, the only relevant thing in all of this is the lack of modesty on Lula’s grandson’s part in launching such a “challenge”. Yes, that says a lot about the situation in our country. Confident that grandpa has returned to the scene of the crime with everything and, this time, controls almost all of the press and even the military, the boy feels free to try to rewrite history and create a grandfather different from the real one.

It is a country with so much moral inversion, in a mirrored Western, in which the bad guys chase the good guys, that even José Dirceu, years later, reappeared in Congress to speak. And he came out in defense of “social democracy”, the one that takes money from the richest – except him and Lula, millionaires. Brazil is back! Dirceu is the face of this in the Senate. And Lula’s grandson demanding proof of his grandfather’s corruption too. The challenge of the year, perhaps of the century, will be to rescue decency in our country…
