MS industry opened 1,300 new job vacancies in February

In February, industrial activity as a whole was responsible for the opening of 1,342 formal jobs in Mato Grosso do Sul, resulting from 9,309 hirings and 7,967 dismissals. The data is part of the Fiems Industrial Radar survey and also informs that from January to February, there were 3,485 vacancies opened by the industry, resulting from 18,581 hirings and 15,096 dismissals, reaching a share of 33% of the total vacancies in the state within the indicated period;

According to Fiems’ chief economist, Ezequiel Resende, the industrial activities that created the most vacancies in February were: construction of buildings (+297), alcohol manufacturing (+224), specialized services for construction (+122), construction highways (+103), sugar manufacturing (+98), assembly of metallic structures (+73), iron ore extraction (+48) and industrial assembly works (+48).

The industrial activities that created the most vacancies in the period from January to February were: construction of buildings (+593), industrial assembly works (+429), alcohol manufacturing (+232), electrical installation and maintenance (+195), highway construction (+164), sugar manufacturing (+124), cattle slaughter (+118), specialized construction services (+114), iron ore extraction (+112), masonry works (+110) , assembly of metal structures (+98), construction of water and sewage collection networks (+74) and slaughter of birds (+72).

Still according to Ezequiel Resende, all industrial activities in Mato Grosso do Sul ended February 2024 with a total of 159,311 workers employed. “Indicating, so far, an increase of 2.24% compared to the closing of the previous year, when the contingent stood at 155,826 employees,” he stated.

As a result, industrial activity accounts for 24% of all formal employment (CLT) in Mato Grosso do Sul, behind the Services segment which employs 260,244 workers with a participation equivalent to 39%.

Municipalities that hired the most

In relation to the municipalities, it appears that in 50 of them industrial activities recorded a positive hiring balance in the period from January to February 2024, opening up 3,726 vacancies.

Among the cities with a positive balance, the following stand out: Campo Grande (+1,072), Nova Andradina (+376), Ribas do Rio Pardo (+323), Três Lagoas (+269), Dourados (+246), Corumbá (+226 ), Angélica (+106), Paranaíba (+98), Aparecida do Taboado (+80), Sidrolândia (+71), Eldorado (+67), Rio Brilhante (+65) and Itaquiraí (+61).

On the other hand, in another 23 municipalities, industrial activities registered a negative balance, resulting in the closure of 241 vacancies. Among the cities with a negative balance, the following stand out: Chapadão do Sul (-41), Batayporã (-33), Rio Verde de Mato Grosso (-29) and Caarapó (-25).
