Arauco opens 150 vacancies for Forestry Operations in MS – Dourados Agora

Global reference in the cellulose, wood products, forest reserves and bioenergy sectors, Arauco is with 150 open positions for Forestry Operation in Mato Grosso do Sul, with 100 vacancies for the position of Forestry Assistant and 50 vacancies for Forestry Equipment Operator. The selection process takes place this week in the cities of Selvíria (02/04), Aparecida do Taboado (08/04), Inocência (09/04) and Paranaíba (09/04).

Sucuriú Project – In February this year, the Mato Grosso do Sul Environmental Institute (Imasul) granted a preliminary license to Arauco for the Sucuriú Project, which consists of the company’s first bleached pulp factory in Brazil. The preliminary license attests to environmental viability and establishes guidelines for the next phases of licensing.

At a Public Hearing, held in Innocência in August 2023, Arauco presented the Environmental Impact Report (RIMA), a document that brings together information on the economic, social and environmental impacts and the respective mitigating measures related to the Sucuriú Project. A fundamental step towards obtaining the license, the event was held in a hybrid format by Imasul and had massive participation from the population, with 386 registered, of which 297 in person, together with State and municipal authorities. After the Hearing, Imasul prepared a technical opinion favorable to the issuance of the Preliminary License and submitted it to the State Environmental Control Council (CECA), a body with a consultative and deliberative function, composed of members of the Public Power and representatives of civil society. The CECA evaluated the opinion and voted equally favorably.

Expected to begin construction in 2025 and operate in 2028, the Sucuriú Project will be located 50km from Inocência, on the left bank of the Sucuriú River, close to the MS 377 highway and 47km from the railway network, facilitating logistics for export. The planned investment for the project, which will have the capacity to produce 2.5 million tons of bleached cellulose per year, is approximately R$15 billion.
