Councilor Jean Ricardo (PSB) assumed, on an interim basis, the presidency of the Municipal Council of Garopaba, on the South Coast of the State. He replaces Jairo dos Santos (PP) who was removed from office this Tuesday (02). A new election is scheduled for Friday (06).

“Jairo was no longer able to continue as President of the Chamber and his remaining in power put the democratic debate in the House of People at risk”, wrote Jean, who is 1st secretary at the Board.
Councilors voted to dismiss
According to him, the rite for dismissal was approved by the Plenary. With the right to defense for Jairo. Two-thirds of the councilors were present and able to vote for the president’s dismissal, as provided for in the regulations and Organic Law.
“The City Council needs to be independent, respect democracy and internal regulations,” said Jean.
Councilor Jairo dos Santos assumed the presidency of the Chamber at the beginning of last year for the 2023/2024 biennium.
