Omoda is considering launching another three SUVs in Brazil by 2025; see which ones | Secrets and busts

Omoda, a Chinese company that belongs to the Chery group, has already confirmed its arrival in Brazil later this year. The manufacturer’s debut here will be with the Omoda 5, a coupe SUV that is precisely the only official model in the brand’s catalog. The news, according to the Auto Express website, is that the automaker plans to launch three more cars by 2025. According to findings from the Autosporteveryone can reach the Brazilian market.

In the United Kingdom, the first car that will be launched is the Omoda 5, as well as in Brazil. The coupe SUV is expected to go on sale here at the end of the first half of 2024 in light hybrid and electric configurations. In the first case, prices should start at R$170,000. In the battery-powered version, prices can reach R$230,000. The Chinese company even improved the finish of the model that will be sold here.

Then, still in 2024, the Omoda 9 will be presented in the European country as the brand’s top-of-the-line car. The English website also informs that the SUV will be almost 4.80 meters long and will be offered with combustion and plug-in hybrid powertrain options.

The following year, whoever arrives there is the Omoda 7. According to the Chinese manufacturer’s manager in the United Kingdom, Victor Zhang, this model will be similar in size to the Toyota RAV4, which is the best-selling vehicle in its category in the world. In this case, it will be positioned between SUVs 5 and 9.

Finally, the one who closes the Chinese manufacturer’s list of launches is the Omoda 3, scheduled to arrive in the second half of 2025 in the United Kingdom. This will be the brand’s entry-level car. Therefore, a compact SUV positioned below the Omoda 5. This also means that it will be smaller and cheaper than its brother.

Regarding the engine, Victor Zhang said that the Omoda 3 will be offered with gasoline, hybrid and electric engine options. If it actually comes to Brazil, it is possible that the combustion version will be discarded, just as happened with the Omoda 5.

None of the three models have been revealed by Omoda so far. The most likely is that at least one of them will make its first appearance at the Beijing Motor Show, in China, which takes place at the end of April.

It is worth remembering that Omoda and Jaecoo, who is also part of the Chery group, are studying the reactivation of the Caoa Chery factory in Jacareí (SP). The director of the Brazilian operation of the two companies, Alex Wang, was emphatic in confirming, although he did not provide further details, that the unit was an option for debuting brands. At the time, when questioned, the executive said: “we can say it is an option. The first option.” This also confirms that Omoda really has plans to bring more cars to Brazil.

Speaking of Jaecco, it should launch two products here in 2024, but both with an off-road footprint to compete with Jeep. One of them must be the J7. The model has similar dimensions to the Omoda 5, but is a little larger. Another one listed is the J9, which is nothing more than a Chery Tiggo 9. In other words, it carries seven people.
