The Civil Police of Rio de Janeiro arrested, on the afternoon of this Tuesday (2), six people accused of being part of a gang that applied payday loan scams to the elderly.
Agents went to the office where the criminal group operated, on Rua Miguel Couto, in the central region of the capital of Rio de Janeiro.
According to information, the main victims were INSS (National Institute of National Insurance) pensioners, who were contacted through a fraudulent system.
In images obtained by RECORDit is possible to see a notebook used by the group with a kind of “script”.
According to the police, the scammers called the victims and put on an act to convince them that they would offer a loan.
When accepting the “service”, customers received a link by phone or through a messaging application to make the bank transfer.
Every procedure was done digitally, without any type of physical or contractual signature.
The suspects were taken to the 15th DP (Gávea).
