How do you know when it’s worth filling up with ethanol?
Cars with a dual fuel system, which can be fueled with either gasoline or ethanol, allow the driver to choose which fuel to use. And when price is the decisive factor, it is necessary to calculate to know whether you will actually save money.
The calculation is simple: price of a liter of alcohol divided by the value of a liter of gasoline. If the result is less than 0.7, it is worth filling up with ethanol. If the result is higher, it is recommended to fill up with gasoline.
Example: if alcohol costs R$3.15 and gasoline R$5.29, the result of dividing the first by the second is 0.59, therefore, it is more advantageous to fill up with ethanol.
