The Civil Defense of RS is even more equipped to help the people of Rio Grande do Sul in dealing with the consequences of meteorological events. Taking as a starting point the donation of 11 tons of resins produced by Braskem, at the Triunfo Petrochemical Complex, an action organized by the company, in partnership with the transformation industries Best Box (Campo Bom) and Erplasti (Montenegro) delivered 4,700 buckets, 50 thousand units of plastic bags of size 50X80, and 600 reels of stretch film for the State body. The utensils will be used in operations to assist the Rio Grande do Sul community in extreme meteorological events such as flash floods, floods and floods, and involve activities such as cleaning homes and urban roads, transporting water, equipment, among others. The donation was formalized at an event held this Tuesday morning in Porto Alegre.

“Assuming that Civil Defense is all of us, it is important to verify the engagement of companies the size of Braskem and its partners to support the population of Rio Grande do Sul affected by disasters”, explains the state coordinator of Protection and Civil Defense, Colonel Luciano Boeira. “These items, used to clean affected homes and assemble food kits to be delivered by Civil Defense to people, are extremely necessary, and make all the difference for the vulnerable families who benefit,” he concluded.

According to Braskem’s Institutional Relations Manager in RS, Daniel Fleischer, the company has historically maintained an attentive approach to local demands in coordination with some of the main leaders in Rio Grande do Sul. “This is a practical delivery, but also symbolic, as it is the result of a joint effort that unites different actors with the same purpose”, he highlights.

Based in Montenegro, Erplasti received 6,875 kilos of polyethylene resins from Braskem for the production of plastic bags and stretch film reels. “Erplasti is always attentive to the needs of its community, collaborating with donations with the aim of minimizing the difficulties of people facing meteorological and social adversities”, explains the company’s administrative manager, Sérgio Weber. To produce the buckets, Best Box, from Campo Bom, received 4,125kg of polypropylene (PP).
