Intense rain could hit 185 cities in Minas this Tuesday

The National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet) issued, this Tuesday morning (2/4), a risk alert for intense rain in 185 cities in Minas Gerais (see list below), valid until 10 am on Wednesday ( 3/4).

According to Inmet, rainfall should be between 30 mm and 60 mm per hour or up to 100 mm per day, with winds between 60 km/h and 100 km/h.

According to meteorologist Anete Fernandes, a predicted accumulation of 100mm of rain is high and could cause problems such as flooding and flash floods.

The regions that may be affected in Minas Gerais are in the Rio Doce Valley, Mucuri Valley, North, Jequitinhonha, Northwest, Central and Metropolitan Region of Belo Horizonte.

According to the alert, there is also a risk of electricity cuts, falling tree branches, flooding and electrical discharges.

Recommendations

• Do not take shelter under trees, as there is a risk of falling and electrical shocks, and do not park vehicles near transmission towers and advertising signs
• If possible, turn off electrical appliances and the general power supply.
