The Iphan + 80 Educational Program, which seeks to promote, transform and preserve the cultural heritage of municipalities in Minas Gerais, reaches seven cities in Minas Gerais in April. In partnership with artists Chico Simões and Anna Göbel, recognized for her muralism work, the project involves local residents in the process of reconnecting with heritage through participatory artistic interventions, including painting murals inspired by local culture and formations of multiplying educators.

This Tuesday (2/4), the project arrives in Belo Vale, heading to Congonhas (4 and 5/4), Miguel Burnier (district of Ouro Preto, 8 and 9/4), Ouro Branco (11 and 12/4) , Mariana (15 and 16/4), Juiz de Fora (25 and 26/4) and Cataguases (28 and 29/4). The Akala initiative has the support of the National Historical and Artistic Heritage Institute (Iphan).

Training for teachers and cultural agents also has a scheduled date. In May, training will be held in Belo Vale (7 and 8/5), Congonhas (14 and 15/5) and Juiz de Fora (20 and 21/5). Another important product of the project are videos that will contextualize other aspects of the heritage of each location using a universal language: storytelling with mamulengos created by Anna Göbel and Chico Simões.

The mamulengos will represent two children who travel in a winged carriage, from city to city, presenting the riches of the local artistic and cultural heritage.
