A man investigated for carrying out at least 11 scams on women he met on dating apps was arrested by the Civil Police, in a restaurant, in the Capital Fluminense, last Friday (29). Caio Henrique da Silva Camossato caused a loss of R$500,000 to just one victim, by asking for money. In addition to adding a total of R$1,800 in fraud.

Caio Henrique claimed to be an actor, composer and property owner, but was experiencing financial problems. The scammer’s arrest was planned by a group of women harmed by the accused. One of the victims, Tayara Banharo, said that he decided to look for the others and they began to monitor his activities.

The person being investigated used the credit card of one of the women. The conversations between Caio Henrique and the character created by Tayara lasted until an arrest warrant was issued against him. The two arranged a meeting, but at the scene, the investigator only found Civil Police agents.

He was investigated for five cases, in São Paulo, and had already been convicted of embezzlement, in 2019. The sentence was converted to the provision of community services, which he never completed. In the last two months, Caio had a relationship with a police officer from Rio de Janeiro.

Caio’s defense claimed that the accusations have no basis. If convicted, Caio Henrique could face a sentence of up to 5 years in prison.
