Ipira’s victim was found in the morning by the Fire Department. There is still one person injured in the city of Caçador (SC). According to the agency, at least 155 residents are homeless and another 26 have lost their homes.

The storms have already caused incidents in 33 municipalities in Santa Catarina. According to the state government’s Communication Secretariat, several regions were affected, with records of flooded streets and damaged houses.

The cities of Araranguá, Praia Grande and São João do Sul declared an emergency situation.

According to a Civil Defense report, a tornado was recorded between the municipalities of Ponte Serrada and Passos Maia, in the west of the state, on the afternoon of Thursday, 2.

The meteorological analysis indicates that the storms were caused by the action of a cold front in the south of Brazil, combined with the flow of heat and humidity coming from the north of the country.
