Rain advances from Rio Grande Sul to Santa Catarina and causes damage | Brazil

The advance of heavy rains that hit the south of the country over Santa Catarina caused a death in the city of Ipira. The victim was a 61-year-old man who was inside a car swept away by the flood. Ipira’s victim was found in the morning by the Fire Department. There is still one person injured in the city of Caçador (SC). According to the agency, at least 155 residents are homeless and another 26 have lost their homes.

The storms have already caused incidents in 33 municipalities in Santa Catarina. According to the state government’s Communication Secretariat, several regions were affected, with records of flooded streets and damaged houses.

The cities of Araranguá, Praia Grande and São João do Sul declared an emergency situation.
