Content/ODOC – With the first round of confinement approaching in Mato Grosso, producers are planning to purchase inputs. One of the crucial points of this planning is the expenditure on animal supplementation, which represents a significant portion of the confinement’s production cost.

In this context, DDG, an input from corn ethanol, an important source of protein in the diet of confined cattle, is gaining prominence. In March 2024 (until 03/21), DDG was quoted at R$925.00 per ton. This represents a drop of 30.71% compared to the same period in 2023. This price reduction was influenced by low demand from feedlots.

The price of DDG’s protein point was R$28.91, indicating a more affordable option for producers. Furthermore, with the trend towards greater corn processing for ethanol production, DDG prices are expected to become even more attractive. This could represent an interesting opportunity for feedlots, who can take advantage of this protein source efficiently.

In summary, the high availability of DDG in industries in Mato Grosso is providing economic advantages for confined cattle producers. The search for efficient nutritional alternatives is essential to optimize costs and maximize results in animal production.
