The Federal Highway Police (PRF) begins the National Road Safety Operation (ONSV) – Holy Week 2024 Phase from midnight this Thursday (28), on federal highways that pass through Acre. The operation takes place across the country and ends at 11:59 pm on Sunday (31). With the weekend extended by the holiday on Friday (29), the flow of vehicles on BRs 317 and 364 tends to increase, with a propensity for accidents to occur. Rain, an increase in the flow of travelers and the conditions of the highways require extra attention from drivers for the holiday.

With this in mind, the PRF will reinforce inspection in places and times where there is statistically a greater probability of incidents with serious victims, in the corridors to the other states of the country, mainly via BR-364, and exit to the border, via BR-317. At these points, the focus will be on curbing conduct such as undue overtaking, speeding, drunk driving and failure to use seat belts and helmets.

In parallel with education actions and traffic guidance, the PRF will also intensify its actions in the fight against criminal organizations, in particular carrying out intelligence-oriented approaches, focusing on cross-border crimes.

Some driver attitudes that can save lives:

– The driver and all passengers in the vehicle must wear seat belts. Children under 7 and a half years old must be using a baby seat, car seat and/or booster seat.

– Maintain a safe distance from the vehicle in front, in order to avoid rear-end collisions in cases of sudden braking.

– Pay attention to pedestrian movement, especially in urban perimeters crossed by highways. Reduce your speed whenever you notice them on the shoulders and on the banks of BRs.
