The Public Ministry of Minas Gerais (MPMG) currently has ten ongoing investigations into the “love blow” in the state. The crime consists of using false identities to attract people, emotionally involve them in a supposed Distance relationship and then, make money through fraud or extortion.
According to the Special Action Group to Combat Cybercrime (Gaeciber), the profile of the victims of the investigated cases is womenin between 30s and 40s, single or divorced. The agency believes that there may be even more records of the crimebecause underreporting is very high.
