Teenager reports sexual harassment from auxiliary driver during bus trip from RS to SC | Santa Catarina

A 14-year-old teenager reported that she suffered sexual harassment from the assistant driver of a bus during a trip from Rio Grande do Sul to Santa Catarina. The suspect had already been arrested previously and a police investigation is underway for rape of a vulnerable personaccording to the Military Police.

The trip taken by the young woman was from Carazinho, in the North of Rio Grande do Sul, to Balneário Camboriú, on the North Coast of Santa Catarina. The cities are about 600 kilometers apart. The harassment occurred during the route, on Monday (25).

The teenager’s father filed a police report with the Military Police. Upon disembarking, the young woman got off the bus crying. The Civil Police will investigate the case.

According to the PM, she reported that one of the vehicle’s drivers asked her to go to the cabin at the bottom of the bus. Upon arriving at the place, he told her to stay for five minutes to see if he liked the environment and that he would change seats if so.

However, after a few minutes, the driver lay down next to the teenager and touched her body, without her consent, in addition to asking invasive, sexual questions.

The victim then managed to come up with an excuse and returned to his original seat, on the upper deck of the bus. The main driver of the vehicle told the PM that the offender was the co-pilot, did a freelance job and got off at the Itapema bus station, on the North Coast of Santa Catarina.

A photo of the suspect was shown to the victim, who recognized him. The police searched, but did not find the man.

In the Civil Police, the investigation was opened at the Police Station for the Protection of Children, Adolescents, Women and the Elderly (DPCami).

“The police officers are trying to contact the victim’s father, to clarify the facts. We will provide the first assistance and, if necessary, according to what is reported, we will request, or not, an expert examination”, explained delegate Ighor de Araújo, responsible for the case.
