In testimony, daughter of former president of Portela says that investigations related to her father’s death have disappeared

The investigation into those responsible for the murders of councilor Marielle Franco and driver Anderson Gomes reveals that, in a statement to the Special Action Group to Combat Organized Crime (Gaeco), of the Public Ministry of the State of Rio de Janeiro (MPRJ), Marcelle Guimarães , said that delegate Brenno Carnevale, now Rio’s Secretary of Public Order, had reported the disappearance of an investigation related to the death of his father, Marcos Vieira de Souza, Falcon, former military police officer and president of Portela, murdered in September 2016.

Carnevalle worked at the Capital Homicide Police Station (DHC), between 2016 and 2018, when he was responsible for investigating homicides in which public agents were perpetrators or victims. The delegate was also heard by Gaeco; At the time, he described problems in the specialized department and excessive bureaucratic demands.

In one of these statements, the delegate also reported that during the time he was at DH, he did not remember “any clear homicide that resulted in the arrest or accusation against a misdemeanor linked to the Bicho game.” In the case of the investigation into the death of the former president of the portela, Carnevale said that Rivaldo Barbosa often asked about the steps of the investigation, asking to tell him any news about the case.

Falcon’s daughter, Marcelle Guimarães, said that Brenno Carnevalle confided in her during the investigations that Rivaldo asked her to “not touch anything and pass it on directly to him.” In the report, the PF also says that the police chief reiterated what Falcon’s daughter said. “Breno would have said that when he went to join the investigations of Falcon and (e-PM Geraldo) Pereira, he would have disappeared everything”, said Marcelle. The crime took place in September 2016.

The Rio government published a note stating that “the participation, whatever it may be, of public agents in this crime will be rigorously investigated, so that they can be punished exemplarily.”
