An institutional visit to the Legislative Assembly and Palácio Rio Branco, on the morning of this Thursday, 22nd, marked the first day of the program for defenders-general from 17 Brazilian states and the Federal District in Acre. They are for the first time in the state to participate in the 66th ordinary meeting of the National Council of Defenders and Public Defenders (Condege), which takes place on the morning of this Friday, 23.
At Aleac, a presentation was made on the history of Acre, written on the largest marquetry panel in the world, which makes up the plenary of the state legislature. The delegation from the Public Defender’s Offices also visited the Rio Branco Palace, where they were received by the governor of Acre, Gladson Cameli and by the state deputy leader of the Government in the Legislative Assembly, Pedro Longo. During the ceremony, the governor was awarded a medal, an honor granted by the Public Defender’s Office of Acre, for the first time, to a Chief Executive.
The merit, according to the general defender of Acre, Simone Santiago, is for all the advances made by the Public Defender’s Office in the administration of the current governor, Gladson Cameli. “With emphasis on the submission of the bill by the state governor to the legislative assembly, which made it possible to supplement and appoint the 15 new public defenders who are already serving in the interior of Acre, serving the underprivileged and vulnerable population that is so sorely lacking. of our service”.
The increase in the budget percentage, from 0.9% to 1.5%, was also highlighted during the tribute. Governor Gladson Cameli thanked and made himself available to support the actions of the DPE, congratulating the institution’s management for its commitment and dedication. “I had the opportunity to live more with the management of the Defender’s Office. The Executive needs strengthened institutions and we have two warriors in the DPE, Dr. Simone and Dr. Roberta. You are an example and what I can do as governor, count on me”, he said in his speech during the ceremony.
The president of Condege and defender-general of São Paulo, Florisvaldo Fiorentino, thanked, on behalf of all defenders-general, for the welcome in Acre. “The hospitality of the people of Acre moved me. The State has to really look at who needs it the most and how good it is to see this happen here in Acre,” he said.
Present at the ceremony were the president of the National Council of Internal Affairs (CNCG), Marcus Edson de Lima, the president of the National Association of Public Defenders (Anadep), Rivana Barreto Ricarte, the president of the Association of Public Defenders of the Acre (Adpacre), Aryne Cunha, the vice president of Condege and general defender of Amazonas, Ricardo Queiroz de Paiva, as well as representatives from 17 states plus Acre and the Federal District.
Among the participating states in the face-to-face format are São Paulo, Sergipe, Rio Grande do Sul, Amazonas, Rio de Janeiro, Roraima, Rio Grande do Norte, Tocantins, Bahia, Rondônia, Goiás, Mato Grosso, Paraná, Pará, Piauí, Ceará, Pernambuco and the Federal District. The other states will be able to access the meeting in virtual format.
