During the four days of Micareta de Feira, the Testing and Counseling Center (CTA), linked to the Municipal Health Department (SMS), carried out 1,840 rapid tests to detect Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs). Of this total, three tested positive for HIV, 44 for syphilis and one for hepatitis B.

Diagnosed patients received medical care and were medicated on site and will be monitored by a multidisciplinary team from the Municipal Reference Center for Sexually Transmitted Infections.

In addition to rapid tests, the CTA provided Post-Exposure Prophylaxis (PEP), an urgent prevention measure used within 72 hours after situations of risk of HIV infection, such as sexual intercourse without the use of condoms.

Around 21 thousand condoms, for male and female use, were distributed on the circuit, ensuring the protection of revelers against STIs. The Secretary of Health, Cristiane Campos, highlighted the importance of intensified prevention actions during the Micareta period.

“Our priority is to ensure the health and well-being of all revelers who participate in the event. That is why we invest in initiatives such as the Testing Center, which offers early diagnosis with all the necessary support for adequate treatment and monitoring”, he stated.
