PGR asked for further investigation into the case before filing a complaint against Bolsonaro and 16 other people
The minister of the STF (Supreme Federal Court) Alexandre de Moraes accepted the request from the PGR (Attorney General’s Office) to deepen investigations into the case of falsification of vaccination cards involving former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL) and 16 other people this Tuesday (April 23, 2024).
The attorney general, Paulo Gonet, had forwarded the request this Tuesday under the justification that a more in-depth investigation into the case would be necessary before presenting the complaint to the Court.
The reporting minister forwarded the files to the PF (Federal Police) and asked that the following steps be taken:
- clarify whether Bolsonaro and the others involved presented any vaccination certificate when the presidential delegation went to the United States on December 30, 2022;
- explain whether, at the time, there was any rule at the place of entry of the delegation into the USA regarding the presentation of vaccination certificates, even if the passport holder had a diplomatic visa;
- deepen investigations into the “evidence of false vaccination records” in the case of federal deputy Gutemberg Reis de Oliveira (MDB) and his family members, so that the results of the breach of telematic secrecy on the congressman’s cell phone can be reported; It is
- send the examinations carried out on the other electronic devices seized, in addition to those in the name of Mauro Cid and Gabriela Cid, as well as others under investigation.
UNDERSTAND
On May 3, 2023, the PF launched Operation Venire, which verified false records on SUS (Unified Health System) platforms and tampering with vaccination cards. The action was based on the breach of confidentiality of Cid’s communication devices, carried out the previous year, in an investigation into electronic voting machines.
According to the PF, on December 21, 2022, the government secretary of Duque de Caxias (RJ) city hall, João Carlos de Souza Brecha, inserted in the SUS system that the former president had taken vaccines against Covid. A day later, a user registered with the email “[email protected]”used by Cid at the time, accessed the ConecteSUS application and issued vaccination certificates.
On December 27, another receipt was issued and then the data was deleted from the healthcare system. On the 30th, the date on which Bolsonaro embarked for the United States, a new receipt was issued. On March 30, 15 days before the former president’s return to Brazil, a 4th receipt was issued.
Mauro Cid was arrested in the operation. The lieutenant colonel was appointed by the PF as responsible for the scheme.
Bolsonaro was also targeted. OAgents carried out searches and seizures at the former president’s home in Jardim Botânico, in Brasília. He was at the residence at the time of the searches and had his cell phone seized.
