Mounjaro is one of the most searched terms related to “losing weight” on the internet in recent months. And not for nothing: it is an injection that became a rage for weight loss after the wave of Ozempic, a similar medication. The biggest difference between the two brands of medicine based on semaglutide and tirzepatide is the number of side effects and the new version’s promise of weight loss of 20% of total body weight.
“Mounjaro, whose active ingredient is tirzepatide, acts as an ‘imitation’ analogue of hormones that our body produces mainly in the intestine (GIP and GLP1 hormones), which we call a double analogue. It is different from Ozempic, which only imitates the GLP1 hormone, including Monjaro, and has fewer side effects compared to Ozempic”, warns nutritionist Neto Borghi to Leo Dias.
