Health and Nutrition Day is celebrated this Sunday, March 31st. The date aims to raise awareness among the population of the importance of having healthier habits.

When it comes to recovery and well-being during hospitalization, the importance of correct nutrition cannot be underestimated. For hospitalized patients, a balanced diet is not just a matter of basic nutrition, but plays a crucial role in promoting healing, strengthening the immune system and maintaining health.

Each day, the Acre State Hospital Foundation (Fundhacre), through the Nutrition and Dietetics Service (SND), prepares more than 1,700 meals for patients, companions and those on duty. Located in the capital Rio Branco, the hospital complex not only offers medical treatment in various specialties, but also recognizes the importance of adequate nutrition as an integral part of the healing and well-being process.

From dawn until dusk, a team of professionals works in the hospital kitchen, made up of around 75 servers, including nutritionists and technicians, cooks and assistants who work at the hospital. The team not only aims to provide balanced nutrition, but also ensures that each meal is delicious and comforting. For many patients, especially those facing health challenges, these meals represent a vital source of nutrition and energy, as well as a time of relief and care.

“We know that food plays a fundamental role in the recovery process and well-being, and it is essential to ensure that our dishes are not only healthy and nutritious, but also tasty”, highlights nutritionist Thiago Pinheiro, who is currently responsible for the complex’s SND hospital.

In addition to meeting the needs of hospitalized patients, Fundhacre also offers meals for companions and those on duty. These meals are not just a convenience, but an extension of the institution’s commitment to the health and satisfaction of everyone involved.

“I have nothing to complain about the meals served to us patients. It is possible to notice the care, zeal and affection that the team has when preparing each food”, says patient Tainaíssa Santos. While Health and Nutrition Day is an occasion to highlight the importance of healthy eating, at Fundhacre this is a priority daily. Current management is committed to providing not only medical treatment, but also care and nutrition, recognizing that a balanced diet is essential for the recovery and maintenance of long-term health.
