Anesthesiologist Giovanni Quintella Bezerra was arrested in the early hours of Monday (11), in a hospital in São João de Meriti, in Rio de Janeiro, after videos show that he raped a patient during her delivery surgery. The criminal did not manifest himself and images prove the rape, which lasted 10 minutes.

The doctor’s attitude raised suspicions in the nursing team that followed some of the procedures performed with the participation of the anesthesiologist, as well as the excessive sedation used during the procedures. The team managed to have the delivery transferred to a larger operating room and thus managed to position a cell phone to catch the act.
The crime lasted approximately 10 minutes. While the other surgery participants stood to the side, the green cloth that covered part of the patient’s body prevented the others from seeing what was happening in the place where the patient’s face and the anesthesiologist were. The images showed that he took his penis to the patient’s mouth and ejaculated, cleaning the victim with a cloth after the crime.
Soon after the surgery, the team that positioned the cell phone observed the images captured and proved the crime, calling the police. The police officers went to the health unit, saw the images and arrested the doctor, who did not react and did not comment after the crime.

The Police will investigate whether other crimes have been committed and contact possible victims.
The Regional Council of Medicine of Rio de Janeiro has already commented, stating that a disciplinary process will be opened to investigate the conduct. “We inform you that an internal investigation will be opened to take administrative measures, in addition to notifying Cremerj. The Hospital da Mulher team is providing full support to the victim and her family. This behavior, in addition to deserving our repudiation, constitutes crime, which must be punished according to the legislation in force”, said Cremerj.
