The “Baby Reindeer” series continues to give people something to talk about! Although Richard Gadd, creator and protagonist, preserved the identity of his stalker, the woman identified as the real “Martha” showed her face for the first time and gave an interview to Piers Morgan, which aired this Thursday (9), on Youtube. Fiona Harvey, 58, told her side of the story, accusing the comedian of being obsessed with her. The Scottish woman also criticized Netflix’s production, claiming that she intends to sue the streaming platform.

In the conversation, Fiona said that she was forced to go public after the program premiered on April 11th. “Internet detectives tracked me, stalked me, and made death threats. So it wasn’t really a choice“, she said. The “real-life Martha”, who said she had not watched any of the seven episodes of the series, defined the Netflix production as an “obscene and defamatory work of fiction”, claiming that she is instructing her lawyers to file a lawsuit.

She went on to reveal more details about her alleged relationship with Gadd, claiming to have only met him “two or three times” – a number that changed to “five, six times” at the end of the interview. Contradicting what the series showed, Harvey said Gadd didn’t buy her a cup of tea during their first date. “Nno one gets anything for free in The Holy Arms,” she explained, referring to the pub where they supposedly met, before claiming that the comedian “led the conversation” she was having with someone else at the bar. “He seemed obsessed with me from that moment on,” Harvey said. Then she added: “I should never have gone into that bar”.

The presenter pressed Harvey on the fact that both Netflix and Richard claim he has around 41,000 emails, 350 voicemails, 106 letters and several tweets that she sent. The Scot admitted to sending “a handful of playful emails”, a letter and some tweets, which can still be viewed publicly. According to Fiona, she “sent no more than 10 emails” and insists they were all innocent – nothing more than just witty banter between friends. However, Harvey denied leaving voicemails for the artist. “Unless he was recording me at The Holy Arms, I didn’t care about him“, she said.

Fiona even claimed to have only been to one of Gadd’s comedy shows and said she never bothered him. She also denied contacting the comedian’s parents or attacking his girlfriend: “I don’t think he had a girlfriend. I think he is homosexual. But no, I never went to his house or attacked any girlfriend or anything like that.”. Unlike her character, Harvey said she never sexually assaulted the comedian or went to prison after pleading guilty to harassment.

Richard has already acknowledged taking creative freedom in the production. As he revealed to The Guardian, some details were “slightly adjusted to create dramatic climaxes”. “It’s very emotionally true, obviously: I was severely persecuted and abused. But we wanted it to exist in the sphere of art as well as protect the people it is based on”, he explained.

However, Fiona stated that Netflix and Gadd “are lying” in their presentation of the series. “They considered it a true story, so there you have it. And it’s not,” she declared, before sharing a message for the show’s creator: “Leave me alone, please. Get a life. Get a suitable job. I’m horrified by what you did”. Harvey spoke again that he intends to take legal action, saying: “I wouldn’t be suing if I thought there were 41,000 emails out there”.

Harvey stated that she was able to identify with Martha not because of the chase, but because of the title of the series. She, like the character, had a reindeer toy when she was a child: “That part is true. It was a joke. So I inadvertently wrote the name of the program”.

At another point, the presenter questioned whether Fiona was ever in love with Gadd. “Piers, is this a serious question?,” she responded, stating that Richard once propositioned her. “He asked me to sleep with him. I gave him a big scolding, I think. I don’t like unemployed guys“, shot.

Although the Scot said on the show that she is not always completely truthful, commenting that “tell white lies if absolutely necessary”, Fiona said she would “possibly” be willing to take a lie detector test. Watch the full interview:
