A few hours before her historic show in Copacabana this Saturday (4), in Rio de Janeiro, Madonna showed a sequence of recordings of her last rehearsals for the performance. “Are you guys ready?” she wrote on Instagram.
In the images, the singer appears dancing while holding a Brazilian flag, masked on stage in Copacabana and wearing a green and yellow t-shirt with the inscription “Ciccone”, one of her surnames.
Madonna will perform the closing show of her The Celebration Tour in Rio. The presentation will be the biggest of her career to date — more than 1.5 million people are expected in Copacabana.
The singer will take the stage at 9:45 pm. The show should end at 11:45 pm and cover all phases of the queen of pop, who has sold over 300 million records.
The performance is divided into seven acts, with 26 main songs (including quotes from other songs throughout them) and several vignettes with more excerpts from other hits.
The stage is 812m², with 24m² in front and 18m to the ceiling. The floor is being raised 2.40m above the ground, to facilitate the public’s view of the sand.
Three catwalks will be used by the singer and dancers during the performance. The central one is 22m long and the lateral ones are 20m long each.
This will be Madonna’s fourth visit to shows in Brazil – the last one was 12 years ago. In 1993, the singer brought ‘The Girlie Show’ tour to the country; in 2008, it was the turn of the “Sticky and sweet tour”; in 2012, “MDNA”.
