Miss Universe Buenos Aires: rule change elected 60-year-old model; understand

At 60 years old, Alejandra Rodríguez was elected Miss Universe Buenos Aires at 60 years old. A debutant in the competition, the model won the title last Sunday (21) after changing a contest rule. Understand!

In an interview with TN channel this Tuesday (24), Alejandra highlighted her participation in the contest: “It was a very thoughtful decision, but thanks to the director of Miss Universe Buenos Aires, I decided to sign up at age 60.”

Previously, to compete in Miss Universe Argentina, you had to be 18 years old or younger. However, long criticized for promoting outdated and stereotypical ideas of femininity, in 2022 a new management was elected who decided to remove age barriers and allowed more women to compete for the crown.

“I had never signed up. Now this opportunity has arisen and it seemed like a challenge, a very interesting proposal”, said Alejandra Rodríguez. “Beauty is not just about the physical, it has to do with the attitude towards life, which goes beyond aesthetics. Therefore, I think the contest came to break these stereotypes, and that is what is giving it so much visibility”, she added.

A Miss Universe Buenos Aires, Alejandra Rodríguez, was born in 1964 in the picturesque Brandsen, province of Buenos Aires, and now lives in La Plata. It is in the city that she graduated in Law and Journalism from the National University of La Plata. The model stands out in the legal area of a hospital linked to the Ministry of Health of the Province of Buenos Aires, but also displays a deep interest in tourism journalism, especially in relation to the development of new destinations and ventures in Latin America and the Caribbean.
