The Health Department of Balneário Camboriú informs that there is no longer a vaccine against covid-19 for priority groups (Pfizer Bivalente) in Basic Health Units (UBSs). Pfizer Pediátrica is only found at UBS Central. Regarding Pfizer Baby, the vaccine is available in all UBSs.

The shortage occurs in several parts of the country. On April 17, the Department of the National Immunization Program (DPNI), of the Ministry of Health, sent a circular letter to the state immunization coordinators clarifying that the process of acquiring the most updated versions of covid-19 vaccines is advanced, following the recommendations from the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO).

According to the letter, as soon as the first shipments of vaccine are available, the vaccines will be distributed to the states to ensure the continuity of booster vaccination and primary schemes in 2024.

The covid-19 vaccine is recommended for priority groups, such as the elderly, immunocompromised and pregnant women, every six months. For children aged 6 months to 4 years, 11 months and 29 days, immunization is routine (the complete vaccination schedule has three doses). For healthcare professionals, a booster dose is recommended once a year. Primary regimens and/or booster doses are no longer recommended for people who do not belong to priority groups. However, if the person has not been previously vaccinated (no previous dose) or has only received one dose, they can start and/or complete the vaccination schedule.
