Prosecutors promote campaign to collect donations for the Children and Adolescents and Elderly Fund

Amount donated can be deducted up to 6% on the 2024 Income Tax Declaration, according to federal law

The Public Ministry of Amazonas (MPAM), through the Operational Support Center for Child and Youth Prosecutor’s Offices (CAO-IJ) and the 42nd Public Prosecutor’s Office Specialized in the Protection and Defense of Elderly Persons and Persons with Disabilities (PRODHID), started an institutional campaign to encourage fundraising for the Childhood and Adolescence Fund (FIA) and the Municipal Fund for the Elderly.

The objective is to raise financial resources that will be allocated to the well-being of children, adolescents and the elderly. The initiative allows taxpayers to allocate part of their income tax to the aforementioned funds, as determined by Law No. 13,791/2019, which authorizes individuals to deduct donations made in the respective calendar year from the income tax calculated in the Annual Adjustment Declaration. The tax deduction in Income Tax serves as an incentive for both individuals and legal entities to contribute, being able to deduct from 1% to 6%, respectively, of their tax obligations.

The funds raised will be used to protect children, adolescents and elderly people at risk, including those with disabilities, in addition to creating safe and welcoming spaces.

The institutional campaign has the support of the Federal Revenue Office in Manaus and academics from the accounting sciences course at Martha Falcão College, under the guidance of Professor João Dantas, who provide guidance on donations to members, employees and the public in attendance at MPAM.

Supporting the action, the Operational Support Center for Child and Youth Prosecutor’s Offices (CAO-IJ) and the 42nd Public Prosecutor’s Office Specialized in the Protection and Defense of the Elderly and Persons with Disabilities (PRODHID) provided donation guidance booklets during the income tax declaration.

The deadline for submitting the 2024 Personal Income Tax (IRPF) declaration, referring to the base year 2023, is from March 15 to May 31, 2024, providing an opportunity for taxpayers to actively participate in this cause.
