Registrations of cars, light commercial vehicles, trucks and buses totaled 220,813 units in April 2024. It was the best result for the month in five years (231,952 vehicles in 2019).
The increase was 17.63% compared to March and 37.44% compared to the same period last year, according to data released this Friday (3) by the National Federation of Motor Vehicle Distribution (Fenabrave).
In the accumulated of 2024, new vehicle sales rose 16.31% to 735,312 units.
- Automobiles: 164,365 registrations (up 19.21% in the month and 39.16% in the year)
- Light Commercials: 43,713 (up 14.75% in the month and 30.14% in the year)
- Trucks: 10,553 (up 8.86% in the month and 44.78% in the year)
- Bus: 2,182 (up 6.65% in the month and 30.74% in the year)

According to the dealers association, the growth in the month is partly explained by the greater number of working days — 22 in April, compared to 20 in March, but also by the increase in daily sales.
According to the data, the average daily registration of cars and light commercial vehicles rose 7.5% from March to April.
“We started 2024 confident in sustained growth and this first four months confirms our expectations”, stated the president of Fenabrave, José Maurício Andreta Jr, in a press release, citing a more favorable moment for credit and more contained interest rates.
The segment of hybrid and plug-in hybrid cars and light commercial vehicles recorded sales increases of 13.71% on a monthly basis and 101.02% year on year, with 8,501 units. Pure electric cars and light commercial vehicles recorded respective growth of 9.29% and 1,090.94%, to 6,705 units
In trucks, registrations increased 8.86% in April compared to March and 44.78% in the annual comparison, to 10,553 units.
“Although credit, in general, remains restricted by some financial agents, sales financed by car manufacturers’ banks have been recording good results, explained Andreta Jr.
