Earlier this week, the Minister of Labor and Employment, Luiz Marinho, received the director of Public Policies at iFood, João Sabino, to discuss the resumption of negotiations aimed at creating a regulatory proposal for delivery app workers. Marinho emphasized the need to resume negotiations on the regulation of delivery people.

The minister also stated that dialogue is essential to find solutions. He proposed establishing a work agenda for the next 60 days, allowing the participation of all interested parties in the matter.
– We are optimistic that it will be possible to reach a fair proposal for everyone involved, with the delivery person at the center of the discussions – he declared.
Marinho highlighted the importance of guaranteeing minimum rights for workers in the sector, who often do not have any type of security. He mentioned the high incidence of traffic accidents, in many cases fatal, involving these professionals, highlighting the need to provide a base of minimum financial and social security security.
During the meeting, João Sabino highlighted the importance of looking to the future and seeking a solution to the issue. He highlighted that two-wheeled couriers were left out of the current regulation due to the lack of agreement.

– We want to be part of the solution and not the problem. We participated in the entire negotiation process in the GT (Tripartite Group), we never had access problems – stated the director, adding that the company is willing to dialogue until finding a path that suits all parties involved.
Sabino added that it is important to include representatives of the Brazilian Association of Bars and Restaurants in the discussion, proposing to resume the conversation where it left off the previous year.

The next round of conversations about regulation for the segment is scheduled for the second week of May.
It will bring together representatives of the Tripartite Working Group, created in May 2023, which has the participation of representatives of workers, companies and the federal government, with monitoring by the International Labor Organization (ILO), Public Ministry of Labor (MPT) and the Inter-Union Department of Statistics and Socioeconomic Studies (Dieese).
