At 19 years old, Livia Voigt occupies the position of youngest billionaire in the world, but she is not the only representative from Santa Catarina in the ranking of the greatest global fortunes, according to Forbes. Another seven names from the State also appear on the select list, which considers assets in dollars. Together, these wealthy people accumulate nothing more, nothing less than US$13.1 billion – or R$65.5 billion.

In addition to Livia, the relationship (see below) has four more heirs to WEG, which is known for “producing billionaires”. The giant from Jaraguá do Sul, which has grown seven times in size in the last 16 years and has become one of the world’s largest engine manufacturers, maintains a family shareholder profile, which benefits direct heirs of founders Werner Voigt, Eggon da Silva and Geraldo Werninghaus, the three are now deceased.

Different rankings
In September last year, the column listed the 35 people from Santa Catarina in the ranking of Brazilian billionaires from Forbes. That research, however, considered the wealth accumulated in the national currency, the Real. This one now takes into account assets in dollars and counts 2,781 people around the world (See the full list here).
The fact that the exchange rate for the American currency is practically 1 to 5 (each dollar is equivalent to around 5 reais) explains the smaller number of people from Santa Catarina in the new ranking.
