B3 released, this Monday (1), the first preview of the Idiv (dividend index), which will be in force between May and August 2024. Among the new features is Petrobras (PETR3,PETR4), which would now have the greater weight of the theoretical portfolio.

According to the Brazilian Stock Exchange, Idiv brings together the shares that stand out in terms of investor remuneration, in the form of dividends and interest on equity (JCP).

In the first version of the new composition of the indicator, Petrobras’ participation surpassed that of Gerdau (GGBR4) and Copel (CPLE6), which currently have the two largest positions in the index, 5.73% and 5.37%, respectively.

In the first preview of Idiv, the weight of the state-owned company would rise from the current 5.17% to 5.23X% – a higher rate than that proposed for Gerdau (5.01%) and Copel (4.66%).

If confirmed, the change would occur in a period of strong debate over the distribution of Petrobras’ dividends. Recently, the state-owned company allocated part of the profit obtained in the last quarter to a statutory reserve – and not passed on as extraordinary dividends.

In general, the Brazilian Stock Exchange publishes three previews of the new index compositions: the first preview, in the first trading session of the last month of validity of the current portfolio; the second preview, in the trading session following the 15th of the last month of validity of the current portfolio; and the third preview, in the penultimate trading session of the current portfolio.

The first preview of Idiv also suggests the exit of Alupar (ALUP11), Itaúsa (ITSA4) and Indústrias Romi (ROMI3).

At the same time, the common shares of Bradesco (BBDC3) and Copel (CPLE3), Cielo (CIEL3), Plano e Plano (PLPL3) and Santos Brasil Participações (STBP3) would enter the theoretical portfolio.
