A Forbes 2024 list richest in the world includes the names of 69 Brazilians.
At the top of the billionaires is the investor Eduardo Saverin, who was one of the five founders of Facebook. His assets are valued at US$28 billion, which places the Brazilian in 60th place in the world rankings.
Vicky Safra (widow of Joseph Safra) and family, who topped last year’s list, fell to second place with a fortune of US$20.6 billion). In third place is Jorge Paulo Lemann and his family, with US$16.4 billion.

Record number of billionaires in the world
French businessman and owner of Louis Vuitton, Bernard Arnault, occupies first place in the world rankings for the second year in a row, with a fortune valued at US$195 billion.

The 2024 list identifies 2,781 billionaires worldwide – 141 more than in 2023 and 26 more than the previous record, set in 2021. The super-rich are also richer than ever, with their combined wealth reaching US$ 14.2 trillion — US$ 2 trillion more than recorded in the past.
No one made more in a year, in dollar terms, than Mark Zuckerberg, who saw his fortune increase by $116.2 billion in a single year – thanks to Meta’s shares nearly tripling.
