The Casario Building, one of the most emblematic buildings in Curitiba, gained prominence on social media after a video went viral, showing its peculiar architecture which, in the words of Lucio Sava, who shared the images, looks like “one house on top of another”. Located at Avenida João Gualberto, 2099, in the Alto da Glória neighborhood, the building not only attracts the eyes of passersby, but also houses a rich history and innovative design.

Designed by renowned architect Jaime Lerner and built in 1979, the Casario Building stands out for its unusual facade and was the result of an exchange that allowed the land to later serve as an annex to Lerner’s office. This project not only deviated from the conventional real estate standards of the time, but also managed to stir opinions and generate comments, especially about its aesthetics.

The building is widely admired by its residents, who praise not only the functionality of the internal spaces but also the environmental quality provided by the building’s layout. Aspects such as cross ventilation and excellent lighting, enhanced by the play of volumes, are frequently highlighted. The location of the building, on the structural road that serves the express biarticulate line, is also a point of convenience for residents.

The construction was carried out by Construtora Fernando CA Reis, marking the year 1979 as the beginning of a new architectural era for the city. Casario remains a testament to Jaime Lerner’s innovative thinking and his lasting impact on Curitiba’s urban scene.
