Another reason, according to the expert, is that the supply of SUVs on the market has increased a lot, while the number of sedans has decreased. Among the models used in the past by PRF, Renault Fluence, Chevrolet Astra and Cruze and Toyota Corolla, only the last two remain in line in the country. Another option from the past, the Honda Civic, lost its competitiveness due to the high price of the hybrid version, which is imported.

A point that has become increasingly important for the police, and which is even part of the VTR01 Project – a scientific research used to determine the needs of PRF vehicles – is ergonomics.

Martini explains that the interior space of SUVs is taken into consideration due to police equipment.

“The agent uses weapons, a vest, combat boots… A larger car with a larger door opening makes boarding and disembarking easier, making the operation more agile”, he explains.

The space also makes it easier to load seized objects and people.
